Biography - Hank O'Neal

Hank O’Neal lives and works in New York. Considéré en 2003 par le magazine The New York Times comme un photographe majeur aux États Unis, Hank O neal est producteur de musique depuis 40 ans, et s’est spécialisé dans le Jazz. Il est actuellement directeur de la Fondation de Jazz d’Amérique (Jazz Foundation of America).

Between the years 1970 and 1999, O’Neal also published numerous books related to photography, including A Vision Shared, Berenice Abbott – American Photographer and The Ghosts of Harlem, which featured his own photographs.

Hank O’Neal, who had his first retrospective at the Witkin Gallery (New York, 1999), has also presented his work at The Erie Museum of Art in Pennsylvania (2012). The launch of his new book XCIA’s Street Art Project took place during his exhibition at New York City’s Howard Greenberg Gallery (New York, 2012) following the two exhibitions of XCIA’s Street Art Project at the Stephen Bulger Gallery in Toronto and at the Dorian Grey Gallery in New York in 2012.

In June 2015 his jazz photographs are exhibited at the Joyce Yahouda Gallery in Montreal in conjunction with the Montreal Jazz Festival and presented at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts for a retrospective of 40 years of work.
