His exhibition Volute addresses the memory of objects and the legacy of surrealist and conceptual sculptures. As a material and critical investigation of the everyday through an idiosyncratic inter-textual approach, it spans ten years of performativity, expanded drawing and object making.

His exhibition Volute addresses the memory of objects and the legacy of surrealist and conceptual sculptures. As a material and critical investigation of the everyday through an idiosyncratic inter-textual approach, it spans ten years of performativity, expanded drawing and object making.

Precariously located between virtual and spatial renderings, his poetic prosthetics map thingness and plot obsolescence. They mark the everyday passage of people and time as outcomes of chance or scheduled encounters with story telling. They also appear as spiralling meditations on collecting inspired by Irish poet William Butler Yeats’ ideas on the gyre and the plastic islands adrift in our oceans. One hundred years after R Mutt’s Fountain, these ready-mades foreground the tension between craft and design; between progress and nothingness. In essence, these accumulations of castaway elementsjuxtapose a début-de-siècle pataphysics with commodity fetishism, hence reconciling Morellli’s fascination with found objects and the stuff of life.
