In Pensées Mécaniques, the repetitive and meditative images in this photographic assemblage are reminiscent of mandalas, and are based on gestures influenced by our automatic thoughts. The public is invited to participate in their interactive projections. The exhibition follows the artists’ research on the mechanisms of optical illusions, whereby a sequence of fixed images appears to be moving—creating an illusion of movement. Inspired by researcher Eadweard Muybridge’s chronophotography studies and his phenakistiscope wheels of dancers and boxers, the artists have created their own digital wheels. » Text by the artists |
